Resource Specialist


Job Title: Resource Specialist
Location: 1100 SW Wanamaker, Suite 201, Topeka, KS 66604 (Hybrid work option available)
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (30 hours/week, with a half-hour unpaid lunch)
Pay: $16.00 – $17.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time (30 hours/week)


About the Position

This position reports to the Family Services Manager and plays a key role in helping families connect with child care resources. The successful candidate will be highly organized, customer-focused, and committed to supporting our agency’s mission.


Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide child care and community referrals to families by phone and email

  • Conduct provider vacancy checks and follow up with families to verify care arrangements

  • Accurately record all contacts and referrals in our database

  • Collaborate with teammates and other agency staff to deliver excellent customer service

  • Represent the agency professionally in all interactions


Candidate Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Be highly organized with strong administrative abilities

  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

  • Manage time effectively and handle multiple projects

  • Enjoy working with people both in-person and by phone

  • Have a positive attitude and dependable work history

  • Pass a KBI/DCF registry background check

Education: High school diploma or GED required (post-secondary coursework a plus)
Experience: Child care experience is helpful, but not required


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods (6–8 hours/day)

  • Lift up to 20 pounds

  • Use a computer and telephone for prolonged periods

  • Hear and verbally respond to conversations


Professional Development

Ongoing training and professional development relevant to the role is required annually, as assigned.

As the state’s sole Parent Resource Center, we support families in their child care search and serve early childhood professionals in 33 counties across Northeast and Southeast Kansas.
